This Week’s Workouts: 10/26-11/1

Monday, 10/26/09:  Heckscher Ballfield Repeats (again)

Both groups jog warm-up around the Heckscher Ballfield big loop 2x.  This week, the workout is equal parts speed and rest:  1 big lap hard (stride for you marathoners), followed by 1 big lap easy (recovery).  Group ‘A’ – repeat 6 times, Group ‘B’ – repeat 4 times.

Wednesday, 10/28/09:  Training Run at Marathon Pace

Both groups will do the 5-mile loop in Central Park at goal marathon or training pace.

Thursday, 10/29/09:  “Antarctic Mike” – Free Motivational Lecture @ 6:30 pm in the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side YMCA

For more than 30-years, Mike Pierce has been a big fan of the Antarctic and its history.  He has read over 100 books on the history of Antarctica and its exploration.  In January, 2006, Mike became one of just 9 people to start and complete the very first Antarctica Ice Marathon.  In December, 2006, he raised the bar by becoming the very first American to complete the Antarctica 100K (62.1 miles).  His incredible story of how he planned and prepared for the challenge of the Antarctic by training in a commercial freezer has been featured on and seen in: ABC World News Tonight, The Weather Channel, Fox News Central, ESPN, Cold Pizza, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, NBC, CNN, Sports Illustrated, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Selling, Forbes, and many other local news stations and radio channels around the world.  What’s in it for you:
