Monday 5/23/11: Official Launch of the Nike NYC Free Run+ 2 @ 21 Mercer Street
NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE! For Monday’s run, we will meet downtown at the Nike Sportswear Store for a special easy run that will take us into Brooklyn and back. Monday, May 23rd is the 5-year birthday of Nike+ and the Official Launch of the NYC Free Run+2 – two very special things worth celebrating. The plan is to meet at the Nike Sportswear Store (21 Mercer Street between Grand St. and Canal St.) and go for an easy 4-mile run lead by some of NYC’s top runner/influencers. There will be bag check at the store, cupcakes and refreshments afterwards, and FREE Nike+ GPS apps available for download. Here’s a good chance to bring along friends and beginners for a fun run and fun night!
Wednesday 5/25/11: “4 and 4”
If Monday is easy, then Wednesday is hard! As a group, jog warm-up to where the 72nd Street Transverse meets Central Park’s East Drive. From here, run the 4-mile loop counterclockwise at tempo pace. Upon completing the loop, continue straight into 4 Cat Hill repeats: run hard from the Boathouse crosswalk to the traffic light at the top of the hill, then jog recovery back down. Jog cool down as a group back to WSY.
“Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way. Run often and run long, but never outrun your joy of running.” – Julie Isphording, Marathon winner
