This Week’s Workouts: 2/6 – 2/12

Monday.  Long intervals.

Warm up from the YMCA to West Drive & 74th Street.  Do 5 x two loops of Strawberry Fields @5K race pace.  3:00 minute recovery jog.  Cool down back to the Y. Strawberry Fields loop.

Wednesday. Progression Run.

Run at a comfortable pace up West Drive.  Make a right at 72nd Street transverse and do the 4 mile “inner loop” of the park.  Upon reaching 102nd Street transverse & West Drive, run at your half marathon race pace until you reach the Y.  (4.8 miles total).


Or, for a shorter run, do the same as above and upon reaching East Drive and approximately 85th Street (the bottom of the reservoir), cut across the park to West Drive and head back to the Y.  Run at your half marathon race pace once you reach West Drive.  (3 miles)

After today’s workout, we will be heading to Patsy’s Pizzeria on 61 W. 74th Street (bet. CPW & Columbus Ave.) to bid Claudina, Jerome, and Chloe a safe trip to Germany.  We’ll miss you guys! We are also celebrating our newest addition to the WSY family, Lou and Rebecca’s son Jack Elan Lapat.  He was born on February 1st and was a healthy 7.6 pounds and 22.7 inches.  Congratulations!

Don’t forget, registration for April, May, and June NYRR races will begin on or around Friday, February 10th.  Register early.  These races are expected to fill up fast.  And always remember to register with the WSY.  The points races for those months will be: Scotland Run 10K on Saturday, April 7th Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, May 19th NY Mini (women only) on Saturday, June 9th Portugal Day 5 Mile (only men score) on Sunday, June 17th.
